Indorama Ventures Vietnam drives circularity dialogue at ASEAN summit

20.06.2025

At the 4th ASEAN Circular Plastics Summit on May 29 in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Vinay Bhardwaj, Country Head & Vice Chairman of Indorama Ventures Vietnam, took the stage to highlight Indorama Ventures’ unwavering mission and remarkable tangible progress in accelerating a global circular economy for plastics through innovative solutions.

This event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and innovators from across the region to advance sustainable solutions to plastic waste. In the session titled “PET Recycling: A Driver of Circular Economy”, Mr. Vinay emphasized how the company is translating its global commitments into tangible action. As the world’s largest PET recycler, Indorama Ventures operates 23 recycling sites in 12 countries, with a target to recycle 750,000 tons of PET bale by 2025. In Vietnam, this vision is actively reflected in the company support for FMCG customers through sustainable PET preforms, bottles, and closures. “Circularity is not a concept we’re discussing. It’s a system we’re diligently building – across the value chain and around the world”, Mr. Vinay asserted.

The presentation featured key breakthroughs from Indorama Ventures’s recycling innovation roadmap:

  • C-ZYME® enzymatic recycling which breaks PET down to its molecular level, enabling infinitely recyclable, virgin-like PET, even from colored or contaminated feedstock
  • Bio-MEG and Bio-PX bio-based materials, supporting traceable, lower-carbon packaging
  • Deja™ Bio PET with 30%, 50%, and 100% bio-content, ISCC+ certifie

These innovations complement Indorama Ventures’s robust recycling network, enabling the company to deliver circular packaging solutions tailored to diverse market needs.

Mr. Vinay also explored systemic enablers of circularity, drawing on the UN ESBN “Six Secrets of Circularity” report: infrastructure development, regulatory support, education, innovative financing, technological innovation, and collaboration. Indorama Ventures actively contributes to each – through joint ventures, public-private partnerships, industry alliances, and circular design initiatives. Notable collaborations include large-scale bottle-to-bottle recycling operations with Coca-Cola EuroPacific and PepsiCo bottlers in the Philippines and India. “The future of circularity is already here – we’re just scaling it”, Mr. Vinay concluded.

The summit was a powerful reminder that the transition to a circular plastics economy has evolved beyond mere aspiration, it has become a shared, present-day responsibility. Indorama Ventures is not just participating in this transformation but honored to be at the forefront, innovatively pioneering scalable solutions and driving meaningful change across industries.
